Port Castries Gets Ideal Vessel Schedules System

Port Castries, Saint Lucia, is now using Vessel Schedules software developed by Ideal Business Services Ltd  to help manage ship arrivals and departures more effectively.

The new computer system allows for the inputting of all vessels and incorporates easy-to-use colour-coded calendars to show statuses and to schedule all ship bookings.  A ‘ship tracker’ facility also provides reports on each ship’s visits.

Specific parts of the Vessel Schedules System include:

  • Vessel Data
Name, description, length, tonnage, class, draft, etc
  • Booking status
    Tentative or Confirmed
  • Berths
  • Repeat Visits
  • Vessel Schedule Diary
Arrivals, departures, reason for visit, berth assigned, etc.
  • Management Reports

Castries is the capital and largest city of Saint Lucia and a major tourist area.

The port handles a wide range of cruise ships, cargo vessels and commercial craft.  Port Castries is managed by the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA),  which also runs the seaport at Vieux Fort, the George FL Charles and Hewanorra International Airports, as well as the smaller points of entry: Soufriere, Marigot and Rodney Bay Marina.

Paul Parkinson, Ideal’s  director in the Caribbean, commented, “Ideal Business Services Ltd  have been partnering with SLASPA  for many years now and we have worked on several computer systems to handle various parts of their air and sea business.  As with all our other software solutions, the Vessel Schedules System has been developed around their exact needs.”

The Vessel Schedules System is accessed via a standard web browser, so can be accessed from anywhere or any device with an Internet connection.

As with several other systems, Ideal  developed the new software solution using mv.NET  from BlueFinity International.  mv.NET  is a suite of components designed to provide the MultiValue developer with a comprehensive solution to the challenge of creating Microsoft .NET  based applications requiring access to MultiValue databases.

The Vessel Scheduler System implemented for Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority  is another computer software solution from Ideal Business Services Ltd,  an international developer of software solutions for shipping ports, container storage & repair depots, airports, warehousing, cold storage and related logistics industries, as well as bespoke stock control software solutions developed to each client’s requirements.
